Richard host a woods walk black powder shooting course on an off site location rather than the club grounds. His shoots are held on the first Sunday of all even numbered months beginning at 1:30 pm CT. The shooting consist from 12 to 15 targets at various distance. Flintlock and percussion firearms only. A meal and ribbon for first, second and third place finish are held afterwards.

Richard is a long time black powder shooter. he is a member of the Kentucky Corps of Long-riflemen, National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association and shoots competitively against shooters from across Kentucky. He is a collector and student of Kentucky Long-rifles and attends contemporary and original long rifle shows.
